Company overview

Inter Pipeline Ltd. functions as a vital infrastructure company across Canada and Europe, primarily engaged in the movement and warehousing of petroleum, in addition to processing natural gas liquids. The enterprise is structured around four primary operational units: Oil Sands Transportation, Conventional Oil Pipelines, Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Processing, and Bulk Liquid Storage. The Oil Sands Transportation division manages the pipeline networks, including the Cold Lake, Corridor, and Polaris systems, for conveying bitumen blend and diluent. This segment features approximately 3,300 kilometers of pipeline and a substantial 3.8 million barrels of storage capacity, along with offering blending and handling services. Conversely, the Conventional Oil Pipelines division specializes in transporting crude oil via its Bow River, Central Alberta, and Mid-Saskatchewan pipeline systems, covering around 3,900 kilometers and providing 1,375,000 barrels of storage, supplemented by blending, handling, and marketing activities. Within the NGL Processing segment, the company extracts natural gas liquids like ethane, propane, butane, and pentanes-plus from natural gas streams, subsequently fractionating them. These refined NGLs are critical as energy products and serve as essential raw materials for both the petrochemical and crude oil refining sectors. Lastly, the Bulk Liquid Storage division oversees the storage and management of various bulk liquid commodities, operating 23 terminals with an impressive total capacity of approximately 37 million barrels. Inter Pipeline Ltd. was established in 1997 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
