Its operations are structured across several key segments: Transmission and Distribution, Nuclear Power Generation, Thermal Power Generation, and other ancillary activities. KEPCO harnesses a diverse array of energy sources to produce electricity, including nuclear, coal, oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), internal combustion, combined-cycle, and integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technologies, alongside renewables such as hydroelectric, wind, solar, fuel cell, and biogas, among others. By the close of 2021, specifically December 31st, KEPCO's extensive generation infrastructure comprised 763 units, encompassing nuclear, thermal, hydroelectric, and internal combustion facilities, boasting a combined installed capacity of 82,459 megawatts. The company's transmission network, as of the same date, spanned 34,923 circuit kilometers of lines, featuring both 765 kilovolt and other specifications, including high-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines. This network was supported by 892 substations, which together possessed an installed transformer capacity of 344,286 megavolt-amperes. Furthermore, KEPCO's distribution system was characterized by 132,376 megavolt-amperes of transformer capacity, 9,940,440 support units, and an extensive total line length of 532,348 circuit kilometers. Electricity services are supplied to a broad spectrum of consumers, including residential homes, commercial establishments, educational institutions, industrial facilities, agricultural operations, street lighting, and those utilizing overnight power tariffs. Beyond core electricity provisions, KEPCO's service portfolio extends to utility plant maintenance, resource exploration and development, specialized electric power information technology solutions, comprehensive facility maintenance and support, electric meter reading, security services, information and communication line leasing, and the sale of nuclear fuel. Established in 1961, Korea Electric Power Corporation maintains its corporate headquarters in Naju-si, South Korea.
