It is also involved in sourcing, transporting, and processing biomass for large-scale power production, and repurposes by-products from hard coal combustion and extraction processes. Beyond these core activities, the company also offers vehicle maintenance, real estate management, property security, and financial services. Originally established in 2006, the company was first known as Energetyka Poludnie S.A. before adopting its current name, TAURON Polska Energia S.A., in November 2007.
